A German team of developers and hardware specialists manufactures the first gateways (Sensoco® Swarm Gateway) for the global Swarm satellite network, Starlink’s little sister.

Where no IoT or cellular network is available, cutting-edge nanosatellite technology enables an IoT network at the push of a button. Using state-of-the-art nano-satellites in low-Earth orbit, the Swarm network enables high-speed transmission that was not possible or very costly via satellite in the past.

Swarm provides low bandwidth satellite connectivity for under 10€/month via extremely small satellites (11 cm x 11 cm x 2.8 cm) in low orbit. The Swarm network covers every point on the planet and enables low-cost communication of numerous IoT devices at any location via the gateway, especially in the remote regions of our planet.

The Sensoco® Swarm Gateway was developed in Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia) by a specialized team, and two variants have been built in NRW since 2022. The growing demand comes from a wide range of industries: Agriculture, Forestry, Maritime Sector, Energy Utilities, Transportation and Logistics, Circular Economy.

In our presentation, we will provide insight into the development of the first production models, the challenges that had to be overcome and talk about the countless possibilities that the global satellite network is already opening up today.
